Mumzy Stranger hails from East End London and in an era of generic urban music, he is conquering the UK scene with a style that is entirely his own. He was awarded the UK AMAs 2011 Best Urban Act (akin to prestigious MOBO awards) and the Best British Asian Urban Act at the 2010 BritAsia awards. He has been predicted by the industry experts/pundits as the next big British Asian act coming through to the mainstream.
His debut single to the mainstream market was released in 2009 and the track called ‘One More Dance’ then went onto be featured on a compilation album called ‘RnB Love Collection Summer 2009’. The original uploaded video supporting the single received over 1 million hits.
His debut album,’ Journey Begins,’ was dropped in December 2010 and went onto achieve no.4 on the official iTunes Hip Hop album chart. From this album came an amazing track called ‘Fly with Me’ which actually reached no.1 in the official charts of Holland and Germany. Adding to this discography are numerous no.1’s tracks (in both English and Asian languages) in Asian charts worldwide
He has lent his vocals and collaborated with Preeya Kalidas (East Enders actress) on the track ‘Shimmy’ which was performed live on prime TV slots (‘National Lottery’, ‘GMTV’ and ‘Loose Women’). He also had legendary and Grammy award winning musician, ‘Junior’ featuring on a cover version of ‘Mama Used To Say’ (originally recorded by ‘Junior’ himself).
October 2012 see’s the release of Mumzy’s brand new single “I’m Dreaming” taken of his 2nd Album due for release early 2013.
